Gandhi hill – A Gandhi monument in Vijayawada

Gandhi hill is a beautiful monument , located in the heart of Vijayawada city, in Krishna district of Andhra Pradesh.  The monument is dedicated to great Mahatma Ghandi, father of Indian nation. A huge library and a hall is associated with this monument.  It have rare collection of  images .  The statue here have a height of 15.8 m . it is the first Gandhi  monument in India , built on a hillock .

Another attraction in Gandhi hill , is a planetarium . A huge telescope and a camera is set here to observe the natural beauty .

Ooty – queen of hill stations

Ooty is popularly known as Queen of  Hill stations . this hill station is a part of Nigiri , where eastern and western ghats meet. In early 1800’s , brittish people first identify the beauty of ooty.  This hill station is occupied by tribal peoples like kotas, Todas, Kurumbas , Badagas, Irulas and Panias.  Nilgiri means blue mountain. Ooty is at a height of 2240 m  . it is the headquarters of nilgiri district.

Climate

The summer temperature is in between 10 degree to 25 degree C.  in winter season temperature dip to 5 degree C.

The  settlement in ooty began in 1822 , by  john Sullivan  , with the construction of  kal bangala.   The first church in ooty was St . steephen’s church.

Kerala tourism struggling

Tour operators in kerala are much worried about the newly started recession in Europe , precautionary notice issued by U K , US , Australia , New Zealand, and Canada against traveling to India. The peak tourist season in kerala will starts next week onwards  . Tour operators are worried because about 50 % of group bookings are   cancelled  and decline in the arrival of foreign tourists. Though kerala is a perfect destination  through out the year,  the peak tourist season is in between October and march.  During peak season charted flight from UK  arrived  at Thirivanthapuram last few years.  But it is almost confirmed that  no charted flight in this year

Due to the recent terror threat , precautionary notices issued by  five countries , badly affects  the kerala tourism sector.  The kerala tourism department expecting a dip of 25 % in the arrival of foreign tourists .   competition from other countries and states increases , these are badly affect the tourism in kerala .

Athirapally – Vazhachal water falls

Athirappaly and Vazhachal are two beautiful waterfalls in thirssur district . Athirappaly water falls is about 63 km away from thrissur town . This is a popular picnic spot  and it is a part of sholayar ranges .  Athirappaly is one of the biggest water falls in India , the water is falls from a height of 80 ft.

Vazhachal is located near to athirappally , about 3 km from athirappally.

Athirappaly and vazhachal are well connected by road network

Nearest railway station is at chlakudy about 30 km away . Nearest airport is at nedumbasseri about 58 km away from thrissur.

Kappil beach kasargod

Kappil beach is located in kasargod district of kerala. This beautiful beach is about 6 km away from Beka fort. It covers an area of twenty five acres land . it is an idle spot for spending free time.

The nearest railway station is located at kasargod about 12 km away. The nearest  airport is at mangalore about 50 km away from kasargod.  Karipur international airport is about 200 km away from kasargod town.
