The history says that Kashyapa Rishi reclaimed Kashmir from a big lake. Before the name Kashmir it is known as Kashyapamar  Buddhism came to the region in 3 BC , during the time of emperor Asoka. During this time the Kashmir valley is a part of Kanishka . Around seventh century AD Kartkotas became popular in this region . The ruling of Karkotas end around 855 . The hindu rule over Kashmir end in 14 th century. After that Shah Mirza , a muslim adventure seized the ruling power of kashmir. In around 1555 kashmir became the part of mughal empire.

In 1819 kashmir became a part of sikh kingdom . later it was joined to Dogra kingdom of Jammu. It was under the Dogra rule till 1947.

Jammu Kashmir located at the northern extremity of India. It is  bounded by Afghnisthan, pakisthan and china. Kashmir is divided into four geographical regions. 1. The high mountain part constituting Kashmir valley 2 Shivalik range 3 Middle run of Indus river 4 kandi , sub mountainous and semi mountainous plain

Kashmir Climate

The climate changes from tropical to semi arctic cold.  The plains of jammu normally experiences tropical climate and in ladakh semi arctic cold. The annual rainfall varies from 93 mm to 650 mm .

You can find rich varieties of flora and fauna in Kashmir . Plant species ranges from thorn bush type , in plain regions  to temperate and alpine species in high altitudes. Broad leaf trees includes , Maple, sliver fir, Horse chestnuts etc. can be seen here.  In higher altitudes you can see Rhodobendron, Birch, berbers and varieties of herbs .  Kashmir valley is fully occupied by Chinar trees .

Animal species in Kashmir includes hangul, leopard, wild sheep , musk rat, bear , chakor,  snow partridge, snakes, peacock, pheasants, and Kashmir stag. . in Ladakh you can see Himalayan ibex, yak, snow leopard, Tibetan antelope , red bear, wild ass, gazelle

Major tourist spots : Kashmir – Hazratbal shrine, Dal lake, Pahalgam, Sonamarg, Chari- Sharief , Amarnath

Jammu – Mubarak Mandi Complex, Bahu fort, Raghunath temple, Vaishano Devi Shrine , patnitop, mansar lake

Ladakh – Alchi, Buddhist Gompas, shey palace , leh palace, Thikse and Spituk, jama masjid .

Leh Palace is located at the Ladakhi himalayan town  Leh. this palace was built in 17 th century by Sengge Namgyal . this palace have a historical importance. here you can see a beautiful temple , the temple reflects Tibetan architecture.

Shey palace is located in Shey village about 15 km from Leh, it is one of the most beautiful village in ladakh. it is believed that this palace was built in 1655, by Deldan Namgyal king of Ladakh. the prime attraction in this palace is a huge golden statue of Buddha.

Dal lake (1)
Dal lake located in kashmir is a picturesque lakes in India. it is the second largest lake in Jammu. Dal lake is surrounded by huge mountains. the banks of dal lake is made beautiful by gardens and orchards. the lake is at an altitude of 1775 m . it is near to Tota Rani village. Dal lake is 8 km long and 4 km wide. this lake is divided into 2 parts.  the smaller part is known by the name lokut and the bigger one is bod. the maximum depth of the lake is 8 m.
