palani festival
palani is one of the famous pilgrim centre in tamilnadu. the palani temple is dedicated to lord muruga. the temple is located at the top of the hill. you can reach at this temple either by using steps or by electrically operated train.the major festival in palani is ‘panguni utharam‘. it is held during the month of march. the festival last for 10 days.about 3 lakhs of people are participate in this festival.

Palani is sacred place of lord murugan, the sone of  lord siva.palani is situated in madurai district. Mugrugan thinks  that he was cheated by this parents. And he move away from them then goddess parvathi calls murugan as “ pazham nee’. Later this name changed as palani.
