Kumarakom
Kumarakom is a beautiful mangrove forest., the green paddy fields and coconut trees are located in and around kumarakom. Kesari falls
Kesari falls is also known as Valanjamakanam falls. This beautiful water fall is located at kuttikkanam.
Panchalimedu
Panchalimedu is located about 30 km away from kottyam.the place is about 2500 ft above sea level. The history says that pandavas stayed here and pond beside a small temple is where panchali said to have bathed.
Vembanad lake
The lake is about 16 km from kottayam. This is a enchanting picnic spot and very much famous for backwater tourism. The lake is rich in fish, so you can spent your time for fishing. The holiday packages are offered by KTDC. The famous snake boat race take place in this lake.
Kumarakom bird sanctuary.
It is located about 16 km away from kumarakom, on the banks of vembanadu lake. A wide variety of birds species can be seen here. some popular birds are Siberian stork, skylark,heron, darter etc.ornithologists from all over the world are coming to kumarakom for study about kumarakom birds.
