Varkala is a popular tourist destination. It is located in thiruvananthapuram district , it is a costal town in kerala. it is about 50 km away from trivandrom. Cliffs are the major attractions here. Varkala is a famous beach resort in kerala. a famous temple known by name janardana swami temple is located here. It is referred to as benares of the south. Varkala is an idle place for ayurvedic treatment. A popular hindu pilgrimage sivagiri is also located in varkala, sivagiri is established by sree narayana guru a great social reformer in kerala. another tourist attraction in varkala is varkala tunnel.
